Bio of Miss Zimbabwe
(Rudo Change, Miss Zimbabwe International 2005)
I was born in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, in 1979. In my senior year at high school I qualified for the school team as a 100m hurdler, competed at the Mashonaland regional qualifications, and came second. I also graduated at the top of my class majoring in Sciences. I left Zimbabwe to study Accounting and Finance at Kingston University. After my father died I came back to Zimbabwe and ran his glazing company becoming one of the youngest Operations Directors in the field. But I wanted a career in the medical field.
I came to the US where I am currently studying towards a degree in Physician Assistant studies specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. I spend my free time volunteering for the Inova Children's Hospital, playing tennis or cooking. I also enjoy modeling. I have some modeling experience having modeled for a clothing company at the London Fashion week in England. In May I competed for the title of Miss Zimbabwe USA and was crowned Miss Zimbabwe USA 2005.
My father (a business man) and my mother a (nurse) were very active in the role of helping better the lives of orphans in Zimbabwe. They both passed away. It is now up to me to fulfill that role and continue the legacy. I am currently in the process of co-founding an organization that helps better the lives of children through sponsoring villages. I am also a child ambassador of World Vision bringing awareness to the HIV/AIDS and orphanage situation in Africa. My goal is to help villages use the resources that they already have and involve everybody in establishing a better community.
